Entrance Requirements

Application Checklist

In order to be considered for acceptance into a McKenzie College program, a complete application containing all of the following items are required:

• APPLICATION FORM
  To be completed and submitted on-line HERE

• $100 APPLICATION FEE
  Non-refundable; we accept Interact, credit card, cash or cheque

• COPY OF ACADEMIC CERTIFICATE OR DIPLOMA (if already obtained)
  Minimum requirement: High School Grade 12, GED or equivalent experience
  A conditional acceptance can be granted for those who have yet to complete high school, therefore, you can still apply without submitting a certificate or diploma.

• COPY OF HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS
  Final Grade 12 transcripts OR most recent

• A PERSONAL PROFILE LETTER
  Describing you, your ambitions/goals/career objectives and reasons you feel McKenzie College is the right school for you

• AN IN-PERSON OR ON-LINE INTERVIEW
  This can be scheduled whenever you are available. If you can't make it in-person, a skype interview can be arranged. Please contact us at 506.384.6460 or info@mckenzie.edu to book an appointment.

• A RESUME (Only required for Software Tester program applicants)

• A PORTFOLIO (Only required for applicants in Visual Arts, Photography Media Arts and Design programs)
  Can be presented in person or submitted on-line by CLICKING HERE

Portfolio criteria

FOR VISUAL ARTS FOUNDATION OR GRAPHIC DESIGN

• An art and/or design-based portfolio with 12-15 pieces created within the last 3 years

• At least 6 pieces should display observation (self-portrait, still life, landscape, architecture... etc)

• Display as many mediums as possible (pencil, charcoal, pastel, digital, etc)

• Work that represents your own interests and strengths

• Work with use of color is strongly encouraged

• Display 3D art in photographic form, if any

FOR PHOTOGRAPHY MEDIA ARTS

• A photo-based portfolio of 12-15 photos taken within the last 3 years

• Depict as many different subjects and styles as possible, such as portraits, landscapes/architecture, artistic style, events... etc

REMEMBER!

You do not have to wait to have all application items ready or in your possession before submitting. Even if you have one of application items ready, submit it. This shows us you are making progress on your application.

Submitting your application documents

Aside from submitting your application documents in-person, we provide alternative options to make it easier for you to complete your application. They are:

Process of acceptance

Once we receive the complete application, our admission panel performs an application review and makes a collective decision of acceptance. If the student is accepted, he/she will be notified by mail and will be required to confirm their seat into the program they have applied for.

Depending on the recommendations of the admissions committee, you may also be required to provide or complete additional entry tests, including reading comprehension, writing skills, basic computer literacy and artwork. Acceptance into any McKenzie College program will be based on the strength of your academic performance, portfolio submission, and interview.

Application deadlines

Our regular application deadline is 7 days prior to program start date.

Early application deadline is 6 months prior to the program start date. If you are accepted, applying early will guarantee you a seat in the program of your choice. In addition to that, if you complete their application before our early application deadline, you will have your chance to apply for our Scholarships for that particular program start.

Late application submissions will also be accepted if there are seats still available in the program during that particular intake. Late registrations will be accepted up to 7 days after program start date.
