Mr. Dale Ritchie, President and Owner of McKenzie College, is proud of this recent partnership stating, “This provides Atlantic Canadian students with the unique opportunity to study close to home and family in their first year and then advance to a degree program seamlessly at a long established, highly regarded, international institution if they so desire.”
From its origins in 1595, UWE evolved into the Royal West of England Academy which included the Bristol School of Practical Art in 1853. UWE is now one of Britain’s most popular universities and has nearly 30,000 students and more than 3,000 staff. UWE works closely with business and industry to ensure both teaching and research have direct relevance to society and the environment, and every individual has a valued role within UWE’s diverse and welcoming community.
This marks the first international partnering agreement with another post-secondary institution for McKenzie College and presents an exciting and unprecedented opportunity for students seeking a career in either of these professions. After a recent site visit by the UWE Regional Manager for the Americas, Emily Cowley, a significant number of current students expressed keen interest in pursuing a degree at a well-established, international university where they can expand their design skills, while residing near the largest design centres in the world such as London, Paris and Milan.
Emily Cowley said of her visit, “This school has a really positive atmosphere as evidenced both by staff and students.” She looks forward to welcoming McKenzie College students to UWE in the future and enjoying a return visit to Moncton.
